Sporty South Africa!
Hi u guys back home!
Here is it hot weather and I carry my bottle of water with me all the time. I miss u guys back home but up to now I’ve just enjoyed my time being here. I’ve learned so much and I’ve growed as person. But still I’ve got more to go.
Today I went on a footballgame with my host-family. George (the dad in the family) told me that football is the ordinary sport by the black Africans in South Africa. Rugby and crickets are very usual sports by the minority of whites. So when I’ve guessed that football would be an ordinary sport I’ve right. J I’ve also tried some new sports because here the school offers various activities. The Swedish school would also do that, therefore it brings healthy, solidarity and happiness to all the kids. I’ve got a lot of new friends thanks to these activities. Some new sports that I’ve tried are field hockey. It’s near like ice hockey but on field. Instead of a puck there is a ball. But u does have a hockey stick. Netball is near like basketball but a little bit easier. Both sides have 7 players and the positions are goal shooter, goal attacker, wing attacker, centre, wing defender, goal defender and goal keeper. Both games were fun and it was funny to try some sports that we don’t have in Sweden. I mostly enjoyed the field hockey because the netball was so like basketball. I’ve googled the both sports and fined that there is one club in Sweden that plays netball and it has about 30members. But I didn’t find anything about the field hockey. So that was boring…
More about my African life 2morrow

Hi Amanda. You seems to have really fun there. Field hockey is also very common in India. Actually it was their national sport game before cricket became that popular. Cricket isn’t the minority game here; it is really the biggest sport game. And they have ice hockey, but I haven’t seen it, I just googled if they had it, hehe. They also has an own kind of game but I won’t explain it here, you can read about it on my pages
Nice knowing you're having a good time!
Cricket huh? Didn't expect that to be something that existed in South Africa. Cricket is acutally the nation sport of England, so it's very popular here too. You said that it was common among white, maybe they're englishmen? Haha.
Netball and fieldhockey seems fun, haven't heard about them or seen anything of that back here though. I don't think it's very popluar here.
It seems like the sports are almost the same in the United States as in South Africa. Some popular sports in South Africa is football, rugby and cricket and those sports exist in the United States too. But they also have sports that are less common in the United States, like field hockey.
